Davidson County ranks in the bottom 5% nationally for economic mobility.
Business is booming.
Not everyone is benefitting.
People who have called this city home for decades are being forced to watch from the sidelines as Nashville’s economic growth skyrockets, leaving them behind. We have the opportunity to change that.
River Prosperity Project exists to advance economic mobility in North and East Nashville – increasing the opportunity for children born in these neighborhoods to achieve higher economic status than their parents before them.
We align dedicated philanthropists, impact-minded developers, community leaders, capital, government entities and others around one shared outcome to create lasting change.
Our Work
Affordable Housing
& Community Stability
We work to prevent displacement by creating new affordable housing, preserving existing affordable units, and supporting strategies for long-term affordability.
Entrepreneurship
& Small Business
We support training, mentorship, access to capital, and connections to commercial space to help build wealth in underrepresented communities.
Workforce Development
& Career Pathways
To create pathways to higher-wage jobs, we support workforce training aligned with emerging industries and connect training organizations with inclusive employers.
Institutional Alignment
& Capital Mobilization
We bring stakeholders together, build coalitions to mobilize capital, and ensure that investments in East and North Nashville support one another.
How We’ll Get There
Programs
& Services
We work with local nonprofits to offer grants, participate in advocacy, offer training, develop workforce programs, and offer entrepreneurship support.
Real Estate &
Development
We help shape building decisions so that new residential developments serve families and community needs, not defaulting to studios.

Our Progress
Generational Change
for McFerrin Park
Our McNeilly Campus project is bringing 250 affordable homes to the McFerrin Park community in East Nashville and redeveloping the McNeilly Center for Children. This project keeps McNeilly rooted in the community it has served for 110 years – while doubling its capacity.
The McNeilly Campus project addresses the ongoing childcare crisis and the affordable housing crisis – both significant contributors to economic mobility.
